maybelline baby skin instant pore eraser primer - £7.99
yet another highly anticipated product release that i was very excited about! i feel like that's all i've said on this blog recently, sorry! so us brits awaited the arrival of the maybelline baby lips lip blams with baited breath and when they finally arrived they didn't disappoint! they took the blogging world by storm and everyone loved them. so i assume maybelline decided to run with the success of those a bring out a baby skin primer that claims to give a smooth and poreless look to the skin. i have very oily skin, so i prefer to use a primer on a daily basis as it helps reduce excess oil production in my skin and increases the longevity of my make up. with oily skin, comes pretty big, often very visible, pores, so this primer had my name written all over it.

this is a silicone based primer as far as i'm aware, it comes out of the tube in a clear gel form and when rubbed into the skin leaves a smooth texture, that did somewhat blur the appearance of my pores. however, that said this left a very slippy almost greasy feeling on my skin, which as an oily skin sufferer, is not what i want from a primer, i look for primers to mattify my skin to keep oil at bay. my make up applied easily over this and did seem to glide over the larger pores around my nose and cheeks, without sitting in them. but, and i'm not exaggerating here, within half an hour my nose was so greasy, almost 'wet' looking and my foundation had gone all patchy. my cheeks then began to look the same not long after. it looked and felt like my make up was sliding off my face, not pretty!

i don't think this primer is suitable for oily skinned ladies, but may work better for people with dry skin? it's just too slippery and 'sits on top on the skin rather than sinks in' for my liking and does no flavors for my foundation at all. i may try again it to see if i can make it work, or in the summer when i wear a lighter foundation, but if not, this is going to be passed on to friend.

unfortunately this product gets a big thumbs down from me. have you tried this? did you get on with better? what are your favourite primers and do you have any recommendations?
