as an oily-skinned gal, finding a foundation that lasts and doesn't slide off my face is somewhat of an endless search. that is until i finally saw the light and brought the famous estee lauder double wear foundation. i'd seen people rave about it, read lots of reviews on it and also asked my friends who wear it weather it was worth the investment. the resounding answer was yes, so with my hard earned boots points, i went and got colour matched and brought myself a bottle.

i always think when it comes to foundations, high-end is always the way to go. now that's not me being a make up snob, the majority of my all time favourite products are high street brands, but with foundations i've found you really get what you pay for. especially if you have particularly oily skin like myself, i've never found a high street base that actually delivered. the first highend foundation i ever brought was mac studio fix fluid which i did and still do really like, but i just find it doesn't last quite as long as i'd like it too and it doesn't keep oil break through at bay for all that long either. so i knew i had to step it up a notch, that's where this foundation stepped in.
the first thing i noticed is that estee lauder offer a very large colour range with their foundations and concealers, from very pale to dark, with both warm, cool or neutral undertones. i found that my colour, cool bone, is an even better match than the mac studio fix in nc15. the foundation itself is quite thick in consistency and does provide very high coverage. you only need the tiniest amount of this, a little goes a long way. that being said it blends very easily and doesn't sit on top of the skin. you can also make it quite sheer, or build it up if you need that extra bit of coverage. it's oil-free which is of course what i need in a foundation and it's also non-acnegenic which is even more helpful, as having oily, blemish-prone skin, foundation can sometimes clog pores and cause breakouts. all of this combined means it makes for a pretty heavy duty base. this stuff really sticks around, keeps oil at bay and even stays flawless in heat and humidity. i'm always so pleasantly surprised when i look in the mirror and see it's still sitting evenly on my skin and not at all cakey.

i'm so pleased i decided to invest in this foundation, it works so well with oily skin and means i don't feel like i need to powder every five minutes. it lasts for hours, keeps oil at bay and actually looks like skin. i guarantee there's a colour match for everyone too. i wont yet say it's my holy grail foundation as there's a few more i'd like to try, but it's pretty close to perfect! if you have oily skin and can't find a foundation that works for you, i can't recommend this one enough. i'm really eager to try the estee lauder double wear light, as sometimes this can be a little heavy on the skin if you apply a bit too much. have you tried this foundation? do you have any estee lauder recommendations?
